I survived the birthday party!

little d has now lived 3 years on Earth, hooray!
We were lucky enough to have nice warm weather by the time 11am rolled around, so we stood outside welcoming the first few people in. I had lots of fun games planned for the kids, especially the first to arrive.
Knock down the tower of cardboard boxes:

Then, I was going to have the kids wear these darling little Cars that I painstakingly crafted from cardboard and posterboard.

BUT, as soon as our guests started arriving we noticed that a boy around the corner from us was having his birthday party, as well. And their entertainment?

THE FUN BUS, which is apparantly a mobile bounce-house type thing. My husband and I laughingly deflated and invited our friends and relatives inside, to play with...cardboard boxes.

But, you know what? The kids loved the race game, and they were playing so many other kid games and running around outside, that it didn't even matter.

(This is little d's 2nd cousin, 4 days younger than little d.)

We had a fun day!

Fancy parties are for parents - kids just love the structure and games of birthday parties.
Happy birthday, little guy!
